In my photography I preserve a moment and make it last a lifetime. I know that creativity and technique are both essential in success, so I combine them to create images that express my emotions and capture my vision.
A photographers power to “capture the moment”is what Holly loves best about photography. Holly Nelson grew up in Benzie County, and is most inspired being “out in the field” enjoying the pristine environment we have here in Northern Michigan. She loves photographing nature and the outdoors, and describes her work as “very inviting, allowing you to walk right into the scene."
Holly attended the Career-Tech Center in Traverse City in her junior year of high school, where she studied Commercial Art. From there she won a scholarship to attend Michigan Summer Institute, where she took a
black and white photo class, and absolutely fell in love with photography. After she graduated high school, she majored in photography at Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City and received her Associates degree.
Still wanting more, Holly decided to attend Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, where she intensely studied photography even more in-depth. Holly received “Outstanding Student in Photography” at GVSU where she also earned her Bachelor’s degree.
Since graduating Holly has been active in the Arts in her community. She is a member of art centers, and participates in many of the local art shows and events. Currently, Holly works in a local art gallery where she also displays her work.
